Champions League: Roma 2 Shakhtar Donetsk 3

Shakhtar Donetsk are in the box seat to make the Champions League quarter-finals after a 3-2 away win against Roma on Wednesday.

Roma took a 28th-minute lead through Simone Perrotta, but the Ukrainian side hit straight back and produced three goals in a 13-minute burst to see them head back to Donetsk with the advantage.

Claudio Ranieri s side will have their work cut out trying to win in Ukraine, with Skakhtar unbeaten in their last 53 matches in all competitions at home. Their last loss at the Donbass Arena came in October 2008.

After successive Serie A defeats to Napoli and Inter Milan, Ranieri s side came out firing and dominated the early stages of the contest.

Nicolas Burdisso and Mirko Vucinic went close to scoring before Roma took a deserved lead…

Gerrard: ´Capello didn´t believe in me´

England midfielder Steven Gerrard said he believes former manager Fabio Capello never believed in him to captain the national team.

The Liverpool skipper led England under Capello during a disappointing 2010 FIFA World Cup, when they bowed out in the round of 16 in South Africa.

Set to lead his nation in Brazil, Gerrard felt the now-Russia coach believed in him as a player, but not as a captain.

Capello didn t believe in me as his number one captain, but Roy does, Gerrard said on Friday.

I don t know what it was. I think he believed in me as a player and rated me as a player.

It was totally up to him but for me, now, I know I m Roy s number one captain and that s a big confidence boost for me.

Rio Ferdinand, Capello s choice for captain, was injured …

England v Netherlands: Dier hails Tottenham contingent

English football is on a high following Saturday s comeback victory over Germany in Berlin, and – ahead of their friendly against Netherlands on Tuesday – Eric Dier has declared his pride at being part of a group of young Tottenham players making a big impact on the international stage.

Dier s stoppage-time header completed a remarkable turnaround for Roy Hodgson s men, who fought back from two goals down to triumph 3-2 over their fierce rivals.

The 22-year-old was one of four Spurs players included in the England starting XI, along with debutant Danny Rose, Dele Alli and fellow goalscorer Harry Kane.

Dier paid tribute to the efforts of his club-mates, but could not resist a dig at Alli s failure to convert a golden opportunity late on.

There s no …

Marseille Rekindle Interest in Debuchy

Olympique de Marseille is looking to strengthen their defence and have Arsenal right back in mind to do so, according to L’Equipe.

have expressed interest in the 32-year-old defender before, and now they are looking to bring him back to his native France to fill the vacancy at the right side before the window closes.

Debuchy still has two years on his contract at the Emirates, but has been a non-factor due to his lack of playing time in North London.

In his three years spent at he has appeared only 23 times for the club, and midway through the 2015-16 campaign he was sent out on loan to Bordeaux.

Arsène Wenger will more than likely not have Debuchy feature much for Arsenal this season, so a move to get more playing time in Ligue 1 would be key for …

Klopp does not consider Liverpool underdogs in Premier League title race

Liverpool cannot be considered as underdogs or favourites in the Premier League title race, according to Jurgen Klopp.

The early signs would suggest that Liverpool, along with champions Manchester City and league leaders Chelsea, will be the frontrunners for the title come May.

Liverpool have been in sensational form at times, recording an emphatic 5-0 win over Manchester United, though they do sit three points behind Thomas Tuchel s team after 10 games.

City, meanwhile, are two points further back than the Reds, though a win in Saturday s Manchester derby would see Pep Guardiola s side leapfrog them for the time being, with Liverpool not in action until Sunday.

West Ham, another of the league s in-form teams, host Liverpool at London Stadium, with David …

Redknapp rubbishes Modric-Torres swap rumours

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has denied speculation linking the club with a move for Fernando Torres in exchange for Luka Modric.

Chelsea are rumoured to still be interested in signing the Croatian after having several bids for him before the 2011/12 campaign, but English Premier League rivals Spurs are reluctant to let such a vital player leave as they chase a top-four finish.

Torres has scored just four times this season and has been linked with a cut-price exit from the club, less than a year after joining Chelsea for 50 million pounds from Liverpool.

Redknapp, however, has rubbished rumours of a move to White Hart Lane.

No I have never heard that one, he told Sky Sports News.

I think Torres is starting to look the player that we all kno…

Helldivers 2 was without one of 2024’s biggest success stories, coming out of nowhere in the year’s early months and taking the entire industry by storm.
