Laudrup set to move for Odemwingie

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has admitted he is interested in a move for West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie.

The Dane is keen to provide competition for close-season signing Wilfried Bony up-front after releasing Luke Moore and telling Leroy Lita he is free to find a new club.

And Odemwingie could fit the bill, with the Nigeria international not featuring in Steve Clarke s matchday squad for West Brom s first two Premier League fixtures.

We want to add one more who can give us that in a certain part of the game or in certain games, Laudrup said.

And he (Odemwingie) is a player with pace who knows the league.

Odemwingie has been frozen out of the first-team picture at The Hawthorns after angling for a move to QPR in January.

He moved to West …

At last! Guardiola finally named Manager of the Month

Bitesize Prediction: Colorado Rapids vs Real Salt Lake – 25/05/23

Market: Real Salt Lake double chance

Odds: 8/15 @

Meeting for the second time in the space of a few days, Colorado will welcome Real Salt Lake to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, while Colorado might have impressed many when opening the 2023 campaign, the Rapids have struggled to keep up that momentum over the past few weeks. Last seen suffering a first-half nightmare at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park as they fell to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Real Salt Lake, Robin Fraser’s men will know that they face another stern challenge here. Despite extending on their US Open Cup adventure on May 9th as they claimed a 4-2 win away at USL outfit Sacramento Republic, the former Toronto coach now finds his…

Moody joins Palace as sporting director

Iain Moody has joined Crystal Palace as sporting director, the club have confirmed.

Moody previously worked under Malky Mackay at both Watford and Cardiff City before his well-publicised departure from the Welsh club in October, when he was replaced as head of recruitment by 23-year-old Alisher Apsalyamov.

The Kazakh has since stepped down from his role due to issues surrounding his work permit, while Moody is now expected to play a part in the appointment of a new manager at Selhurst Park.

Palace co-chairman Steve Parish told the club s official website: I have great pleasure in welcoming Iain to the club.

The role of sporting director will cover all areas of player recruitment and contract management and is an important building block as we move the club forwar…

Hazard: I gave everything to come back

Eden Hazard feels he is enjoying his best period at Chelsea after fighting hard to regain the form that made him a Premier League winner.

Hazard was a key figure in the Blues title success under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15, but, along with many of his team-mates, was hugely disappointing last season, as a collective downturn in performance levels saw the Portuguese manager sacked in December and the team ultimately finish a distant 10th.

The west London side have responded emphatically following the arrival of former Juventus and Italy coach Antonio Conte, sitting eight points clear in first place.

And the contribution of Belgium international Hazard has been a big reason for their march back to the top of the standings.

Last season everyone knows I was no…

Silva stunned by Sevilla scoring record

Sevilla striker Andre Silva has admitted his sensational start to life in LaLiga has even taken him by surprise after a miserable 2017-18 with AC Milan.

Silva swapped Milan for Seville in June in a loan deal that sees the Spanish club hold an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

His move came after two goals in 24 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri, Silva failing to live up his price tag after reportedly joining from Porto for a fee of €38million.

After such a goal drought in Italy many questioned whether Sevilla were wise in taking him on, but Silva has repaid that faith with seven goals in as many LaLiga outings – making him the competition s top scorer.

His form has surprised many, and the striker is unable to pinpoint w…

Bitesize Prediction: Ghazl El Mahallah vs Al Masry – 07/06/23

Market: Al Masry win

Odds: 21/20 @

Looking to officially book their top-half finish on Wednesday evening, Al Masry will travel to Mahalla when they meet a struggling Ghazl El Mahallah in midweek.

Starting with the hosts, while Ghazl El Mahallah might have clung to their Premier League status last season, Abdel Baky Gamal s side are enduring another top-flight struggle. Last seen putting in another downbeat display as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away at Enppi, the Mahalia-Based outfit are in the midst of a nine-match winless run across all competitions a run that stems all the way back to March 31st. At the heart of yet another relegation scrap and holding just a three-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, GMH have also remarkably picked up just a single …

Vidal puts off decision on Juve future

Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal is unsure as to whether he will remain with the Italian champions next season.

Vidal has been with Juve since 2011 and become one of the most courted players in world football.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man is currently starring for Chile at the FIFA World Cup, with Manchester United among the clubs reported to be interested in the 27-year-old.

Instead of dismissing claims he would leave Juve, Vidal instead said he preferred to wait until after the competition in Brazil before deciding his future.

Will I stay at Juventus? I do not know, he is quoted as telling Sky Italia.

I just think about the World Cup and the national team now.

After the World Cup we will see what will be my future.

Real Madrid v Eibar: Zidane´s men reeling from Champions League shock

Real Madrid will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday s shock 2-0 Champions League loss to Wolfsburg when they resume La Liga duties against Eibar.

Coach Zinedine Zidane is banking on the Santiago Bernabeu effect to power a comeback in the return leg and he will be hoping to get a preview of that on Saturday.

The Frenchman took full responsibility for his side s terrible performance in Germany, but said it would be wrong to lose sight of the positive steps made in recent weeks particularly the 2-1 Clasico win over Barcelona.

What we have done recently has been positive and I m not going to go crazy. We cannot be happy with this game, he said.

We have to have a look at it and analyse it.

We suffered physically [after El Clasico], especially …

There can be no doubt – FA reiterates reasons for England taking the knee

England have left no doubt in their reasoning for taking the knee and fans booing the team should reflect on the message [they] are sending , the Football Association (FA) said on the eve of their Euro 2020 opener.

The Three Lions face Croatia at Wembley on Sunday, but it is anticipated that their pre-match anti-racism demonstration will again be met with opposition.

During pre-tournament friendlies against Austria and Romania in Middlesbrough, England took the knee and were booed by sections of their own supporters.

Opponents to the act have suggested it has links to political organisations, although Gareth Southgate and his team have repeatedly made clear their reasons for taking the knee.

It was a point the FA emphasised again as it prepared for the st…
