Hulk to decide on future after Confederations Cup

Chelsea target Hulk has insisted that he will not make any decision on his future until after the Confederations Cup.

The Zenit St Petersburg forward, who has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months, was named as part of Brazil s 23-man squad for the tournament on Friday.
And the 26-year-old claims he is solely focused on helping Luiz Felipe Scolari s team who won the last Confederations Cup in 2009 defend their title on home soil, rather than any potential switch to England.
If I said there wasn t anything in it, I would be lying, but that is not for now, he said.
At the moment, I am 100 percent focused on the Selecao (Brazil team) and I hope to be a Confederations Cup winner with my country.
It is a matter of great pride for me to be playing i…

Barcelona 2 Atletico Madrid 1: Suarez completes comeback after Torres scores and sees red

Luis Suarez scored twice as Barcelona came from behind to record a 2-1 win over 10-man Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Luis Enrique s side were still smarting from a 2-1 Clasico defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday, and Camp Nou was stunned into silence once more when Fernando Torres struck the opening goal of the game and his 11th in 15 games against Barca with Atletico s first shot on target after 25 minutes.

Torres made preserving his side s advantage far more difficult when he picked up a needless second booking just 10 minutes after scoring, and Barca began to turn up the pressure, with Lionel Messi close to converting a fine overhead kick and Neymar rattling Jan Oblak s crossbar.

Atleti s admirable resistance was …

Neymar’s spat with Cavani – does this spell trouble for PSG?

PSG spent big this summer in a quest not just to re-claim the Ligue 1 title, but to conquer Europe. Since being taken over by their cash-rich owners, Les Parisiens have made no secret of their hopes at joining Europe s elite. Of course, they have found this much easier said than done.

PSG may have only been founded in 1970, but despite being the new kids on the block compared to the likes of more established institutions like Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Manchester United, the ambitious capital club certainly have not suffered from stage fright since making their debut. Impressively, they been quite strong in their appearances in recent Champions Leagues, despite their humiliating exit at the hands of Barcelona in the most recent edition.

However, having seen the Ligue 1 …

Banega and Messi shine before Argentina ride wave of their own nonsense

From the rabble and rubble of Argentina s Nizhny nightmare, the vague structure of a football team Lionel Messi needed emerged.

Everyone from Diego Maradona – inimitably in attendance in St Petersburg for this World Cup-salvaging 2-1 win over Nigeria – to Messi s mother had their say on the ignominy of the 3-0 reverse against Croatia.

There was talk of bust-ups and mutiny in the squad, with the Argentinian Football Association forced to deny reports the players wanted embattled head coach Jorge Sampaoli replaced by 1986 World Cup winner and current general manager Jorge Burruchaga.

Sampaoli responded with five changes and a third formation in as many games – a selection that hinted at player power or darts being thrown at a team-sheet in the dressing room a…

Prediction: Wolves vs Watford

Prediction: Watford win

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

The Premier League returns following the international break this weekend, and there are a series of fascinating games for us to enjoy. One of them will take place at Molineux when Wolverhampton Wanderers face Watford, in a game that will pit two of the top flight s surprise packages against one another. The Midlands club are everyone s outside pick to make some noise in the European spots if they can carry on their current form, whereas Watford have had a very hot and cold start to the 2018/19 campaign.

Wolves

Few could ve anticipated just how strong Wolves would be to start off the Premier League season, although you could argue that all of the signs were there. Nuno has found a system that works and whi…

Mohamed Salah showing his class at Liverpool

On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool winger Mohamed Saleh scored his 20th goal of the season in all competitions in a 4-0 win at Bournemouth. The win took the Reds back into the Champions League spots.

The fact that the Egyptian has been so prolific is even more extraordinary since he is not a central striker. However, he is highly effective from his  wide role at creating and scoring goals.

Goals, goals and more goals

Salah’s strike on Sunday means he is the first Liverpool since season 2013/14 to score 20-plus goals in a season when both Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez got to the milestone.

When Reds boss Jurgen Klopp signed Salah for a fee of around £34million in the summer, I doubt not even the German thought the Egyptian striker would prove as prolif…

Man City and Liverpool condemn ´unacceptable´ scenes as police investigate fan unrest

Manchester City and Liverpool have condemned the unacceptable scenes that marred the teams EFL Cup tie, with the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) investigating several incidents in the aftermath of Thursday s game.

EFL Cup holders Liverpool fell to a last-16 exit at the Etihad Stadium as goals from Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez and Nathan Ake fired City to a 3-2 win in their first game after the World Cup.

Prior to the match, the two rivals released a joint statement with the aim of easing mounting tensions between the clubs.

Their Premier League clash in October – in which Liverpool claimed a 1-0 win – saw coins thrown at City boss Pep Guardiola by Reds fans, while City supporters could be heard singing songs related to the Hillsborough disaster, in which 97 L…

Aguero out for ´a few games´ and will miss Manchester derby

Sergio Aguero will miss the Manchester derby with a thigh problem sustained in the win over Chelsea, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

Aguero was forced off with the injury in the 77th minute of City s 2-1 victory in the Premier League on Saturday.

Guardiola informed reporters after the match that he believed Aguero s injury was bad but could not provide any further details.

However, in his news conference to preview City s Champions League meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk, Guardiola confirmed Aguero will be out of action for several weeks, meaning the striker who has scored nine league goals this term will miss the clash with Manchester United on December 7.

Yes, Guardiola responded when asked if City would be without Aguero for the derby…

Messi leaves Barcelona: The clubs we´d really love to see him join

For the first time in his career, Lionel Messi is looking for a new club.

Barcelona announced on Thursday contract talks had been unsuccessful due to the  economic and structural obstacles of LaLiga s salary restrictions.

Messi s next step is far from obvious, but what if we imagine money is no object and he could play for anyone he chooses? What if the thrill of the game were more important to him than winning a fifth Champions League? What if he threw caution to the wind and went somewhere just for fun?

We ve has imagined such a scenario, and these are the teams we d love to see him play for
